REAL ESTATE along the WASATCH FRONTFREE* REAL ESTATE LICENSE SCHOOL |
Some big offices may be a Mega MistakeIn our area, Coldwell Banker is a mega company and we understand this issue first hand. We have addressed it by installing the Journey to Mastery™ program to make sure our new licensees do not fall into the abyss of a mega company with no support and training. However, there are other mega companies around that do not... so beware! Often people who are new to real estate think that the Big Name or big offices are the safe choice in selecting a training program and a home for their new license. Big offices are big because they have a LOT of agents working there. What they do instead is provide a one or two-week "Training" program. Usually with a name like Fast Start, Quick Start, Jump Start … Implying that you will get started making money quickly. These programs can be great and will give you a good look into how the business works, but we understand its simply not enough. Sitting in class for two weeks for 8 hours per day and leaving with a thick book with everything you will ever need to know about real estate is insane. If you wanted to be an Olympic champion, would you read a book about it? Enter the MENTOR . . . Since these mega companies know they don't have the interest in new (non-producing) agents and they don't want to make the investment in your future, they assign you a "Mentor" who knows the ropes and will answer your questions. Often they will help you get through your first couple of escrows. Sounds good, right? These are either very busy people, working with their own business and have limited time to help you out, or they are agents with little business of their own, and without the skills to develop their own business, so they are professional helpers. In either case, they take up to half the commission on your escrows, but provide you with little in the way of real training. More on Mentors>> Remember you want to be an Olympic champion in real estate. You need real training.
